Central HS Football is on the air in 2011!  For the second straight year, Central HS Football games are being broadcasted on the radio and the Internet.  For the past 5 years, Wildcats games were heard on the Internet at SportsGumbo.net.  This year, all 10 regular season games and playoff games are being carried, once again, on WPFC, 1550AM, Baton Rouge and on the Internet at SportsGumbo.net.  Regular season  broadcasts start at 6pm on Friday nights.  The first broadcast: Central—East Feliciana in the Zachary Jamboree, 4:30pm airtime, Friday, August 26. Central HS Football broadcasts are a Jon Fine Sports Production.

Last year, Central HS became the 4th Baton Rouge area high school to have its football games professionally broadcast on the radio/Internet, joining Catholic HS, Denham Springs HS and Episcopal HS.  Like Central, Episcopal has its games on the radio for the second time in 2011

The broadcast team for CHS football is Josh Ward on play-by-play, Scott Osborne on color, with Victoria Eskola as the sideline reporter.  Ward, a former high school basketball coach, returns for his fourth year as the voice of the Wildcats.  Osborne, also in his fourth year as color commentator for Central, is an assistant basketball coach and teacher at Central.  Eskola, a teacher and coach at CHS, will be in her third year manning the sidelines on Wildcats broadcasts.

In addition to producing Central HS Football broadcasts, Jon Fine Sports Productions also produces The Sid Edwards Show.  Co-hosted by City of Central Athletics Director Sid Edwards and Central HS assistant football coach Steve Johnson, The Sid Edwards Show broadcasts live from Fox’s Pizza Den, Magnolia Bridge Road, in Central.  The program can be heard Thursday nights, 5pm-6pm, on WPFC, 1550AM, Baton Rouge and on the Internet at SportsGumbo.net.  The Sid Edwards Show not only covers Central HS athletics, but also devotes time each week to Central HS academics.  Several Central public figures—both sports related and non-sports related—have appeared on the program.

A popular Central show, also produced by Jon Fine Sports Productions, Central Coaches Corner, aired in the mid-00’s on The Score, 1210AM, Baton Rouge.  This program was co-hosted by Steve Johnson and Wes Watts.

Other high school programming produced by Jon Fine Sports Productions includes Denham Springs HS Football radio/Internet broadcasts (The Score, 1210
AM, Baton Rouge/SportsGumbo.net), Episcopal HS radio/Internet broadcasts (WXOK, 1460AM, Baton Rouge/SportsGumbo.net) The Dru Nettles Show (Thursdays, 7pm-8pm, broadcasting live from Big Mike’s Sports Bar & Grill in Denham Springs, The Score, 1210AM, BR/SportsGumbo.net) and Plaquemine Sports Weekly (Tuesdays, 8am-9am, KKAY, 1590AM, River Parishes,BR/SportsGumbo.net). Fine has been a Baton Rouge sports talk radio host/producer since 1991.  He presently hosts and produces Monday Morning Quarterback (Mondays, 8am-9am:  KKAY, 1590AM, River Parishes/BR…SportsRadio-1310-KEZM-Lake Charles/Internet:  SportsGumbo.net).

The 2011 Central HS Football radio/Internet broadcasts include a 60 minute pre-game show, “The Central Title & Closing Wildcats Warm-Up”, which features an extensive interview with Wildcats coach Doug Dotson.  At half-time, “The Central Stat Care Half-Time Report” includes an interview with a prominent Central personality.  Following the game, tune in to” The Wildcats Wrap-Up”, which includes the “Chase Health Care Player of The Game”.  Victoria Eskola conducts on-field interviews with Coach Dotson both at half-time and right after the final gun.

One of the best reason to root for the Wildcats to win is that after every Central victory, you can purchase a Blizzard at Dairy Queen for 99 cents!  David’s Tiger Express & Dairy Queen is located on the corner of Hooper and Joor in Central..
