The 2011-2012 school year marks the eighteenth consecutive year that Jon Fine Sports Productions has had the privilege of producing and calling play-by-play for Denham Springs HS radio broadcasts.  All years, we have announced Denham football.  Last basketball season was the tenth straight season (and twelfth all told) that we announced select Denham basketball games and playoff games.  In addition, for the first year ever, we broadcast select Denham baseball games and playoff games and the Denham softball state semi-finals and finals games.

This football season, we are announcing the Denham Jamboree, all 10 regular season Denham games, and all playoff games. Broadcasts  air on The Score, 1210AM, Fox Sports Radio, Baton Rouge, with airtime at 6:00pm (with the exception of the Denham Springs HS game at Rummel HS, see below).  All broadcasts can also be heard on the Internet at this site: SportsGumbo.net (click Listen Live). Our first broadcast:   Friday, August 26, DSHS vs W. Feliciana HS, at the Zachary Jamboree.

Jon Fine is serving his ninth straight year calling play-by-play for Denham Springs HS sports.  He is joined by Dr. Hunter Bond, who has served as both the full-time and fill-in color commentator on Jackets Football in year’s past.

Denham Springs HS football and basketball broadcasts air on The Score, 1210AM, Fox Sports Radio in Baton Rouge, a Clear Channel Station.  Our broadcasts have always aired on 1210AM—which has been The Score, 1210AM since 1998.  Its predecessor was Christian Country, Bayou, 1210AM—a station which was located on Hatchell Lane in Denham Springs and was owned by Jeff and Nancy David.

This is our fourth year carrying Denham football games live on the net (simulcast of radio broadcast) at SportsGumbo.net.  SportsGumbo.net also features Central HS football and Episcopal HS football game broadcasts.

Jon Fine Sports Productions, in addition to Denham Springs HS radio/Internet broadcasts, also produces radio/Internet broadcasts for Central HS (WPFC, 1550AM, BR/SportsGumbo.net) and Episcopal HS (WXOK, 1460AM, BR/SportsGumbo.net).  Weekly high school shows produced by Jon Fine Sports include The Dru Nettles Show (Thursdays, 7pm-8pm, broadcasting live from Big Mike’s Sports Bar & Grill in Denham Springs, The Score, 1210AM, BR/SportsGumbo.net), The Sid Edwards Show (Thursdays, 5pm-6pm, broadcasting live from Fox’s Pizza Den in Central, WPFC, 1550AM, BR/SportsGumbo.net) and Plaquemine Sports Weekly (Tuesdays, 8am-9am, KKAY, 1590AM/SportsGumbo.net).  Jon also hosts and produces Monday Morning Quarterback (Mondays, 8am-9am, KKAY, 1590AM, River Parishes/BR….SportsRadio-1310-KEZM-Lake Charles/Internet:  SportsGumbo.net.)

Our 2011 Denham Springs HS Football broadcasts include a 60 minute pre-game show, “The Sport-N-Center Jackets Warm-Up”, which features an interview with Jackets head football coach Dru Nettles (by Jon Fine), the opposing coach (by Chris Gordy), and a preview of  Denham’s district rivals’ games:  Walker (Anthony Schiro) and Live Oak (Brian Hargroder).  Of course, Jon and Hunter provide an extensive preview of that night’s Denham Springs ballgame.

At halftime, the “Generations Hospice Half –Time Report” will include a prominent Denham Springs sports personality interviewed by Jon Fine, a great feature: “Yellow Jacket Memories” with Randy Smith, plus Chris Gordy’s half-time stats.   Just prior to our half-time show, Chris will be on the field for a brief interview with Coach Nettles.

Following the game, tune in to “The Jackets Wrap-Up”, highlighted by a post-game interview with Jackets coach Nettles (with Chris Gordy), Chris’ game stats, our  Player of The Game, plus reports from that night’s games  of Walker (Anthony Schiro) and Live Oak Brian Hargroder).  Jon & Hunter give a thorough analysis of that night’s Denham game and a look ahead towards the Jackets’ next ballgame.

When the Jackets score, we give you specifics on the “NAPA Auto Parts Jackets Scoring Drive”.  When it is time for a hydration break, it is time for the “Montgomery Heating & Air Conditioning Water Break”.  The Jambalaya Shoppe, across from Bass Pro, will be involved in a very special fund-raiser.  Details are being worked out at this writing.
